About the RoleTech Impact is a national nonprofit organization that provides a comprehensive range of technology services to mission-driven nonprofits, universities, and foundations. We operate a full-service digital agency, called Message Agency, as our Digital Services Division and are seeking a Content & Digital Marketing Strategist to join our interdisciplinary and collaborative team. The ideal candidate has experience in client-facing roles around content strategy, brand messaging, and digital campaign architecture while also bringing meaningful technical digital marketing capabilities.This role is anchored in content strategy — the ability to shape narratives, develop messaging frameworks, design strategic content systems, and write compelling copy for the web and digital channels. At the same time, the ideal candidate brings working knowledge of digital marketing channels including SEO/GEO, analytics, paid search, and data-informed campaign planning. We are looking for someone who can serve as a strategic generalist and campaign architect: a sharp, creative thinker who is as comfortable leading a content discovery session as they are analyzing campaign performance data.Duties & ResponsibilitiesContent Strategy & MessagingLead the development of content strategies for nonprofit clients — defining structured content systems and models, messaging frameworks, editorial governance models, and cross-channel content plans aligned with client business goals.Write original, compelling copy for client branding deliverables, websites, and publications, incorporating SEO and accessibility best practices throughout.Create messaging frameworks and campaign narratives tailored to specific audiences across digital platforms and channels.Assist clients with content migration planning, editorial workflow design, and content governance documentation.Provide client training on content strategy, digital campaigns, best practices for creating digital content, and CMS administration.Contribute to agency marketing by producing original content, webinars, and thought leadership for publication on the web, in print, and in event collateral.Discovery, Research & StrategyPlan and lead client discovery sessions; synthesize findings into strategic deliverables including discovery summaries, user personas, digital engagement plans, and content strategies.Conduct content audits of website and digital channels to assess quality, structure, search performance, and alignment with client goals.Design and conduct user research, audience segmentation, and market analysis to ground content and campaign strategies in real audience insight.Audit clients' existing digital strategies and recommend improvements grounded in research and best practices.During the sales cycle, help scope and strategize directions for potential projects; participate in business development activities such as vendor interviews and proposal development.Digital Marketing & Campaign Management Design and execute digital marketing campaigns across channels including SEO/SEM, email, paid search, social media, and content marketing, with an eye toward audience engagement and measurable outcomes.Create, launch, and manage digital advertising campaigns on Google Ads (including Google Ad Grants for nonprofits) and other relevant platforms; make budget recommendations and optimize for performance.Develop audience targeting and segmentation strategies using data-driven insights to maximize campaign relevance and impact.Report on campaign performance and deliver clear analyses of outcomes, helping clients make data-informed decisions.Analytics, SEO & DataImplement SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) best practices across content and digital properties to improve search visibility and audience reach.Utilize analytics platforms — including Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — to track performance metrics, identify optimization opportunities, and measure campaign impact.Advise clients on data collection practices, tagging strategies, and data privacy considerations relevant to their digital programs.Collaboration & Continuous LearningCollaborate with an interdisciplinary team of designers, UX specialists, project managers, and developers to deliver integrated content and digital solutions.Scale strategy services thoughtfully across projects of varying size and budget, maintaining quality regardless of client constraints.Stay current on emerging digital trends — particularly in AI-assisted search, content marketing, and paid media — and bring new approaches into client work and agency processes.Required Skills & ExperienceA candidate should have:A bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.At least three years of professional experience as a content strategist, web writer/editor, digital strategist, or in a digital communications role.Direct experience in a client-facing role at a digital or creative agency, or as a freelancer serving multiple clients.Strong writing skills, with demonstrated examples of original web copy, messaging frameworks, or content strategy deliverables.Experience conducting website content audits and developing content strategies for CMS-driven websites.Experience developing content marketing strategies across digital channels.Knowledge of Google Analytics and SEO best practices, with the ability to apply them to content work.Demonstrated ability to lead or participate in discovery sessions and produce user personas and strategic deliverables.Understanding of web accessibility standards and their application to content and digital campaigns.Awareness of user research methods and/or market segmentation practices.Familiarity with data privacy considerations relevant to digital marketing (e.g., cookie consent, tracking transparency).Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with strong organizational skills.Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and know when to escalate.Ideal Skills & ExperienceAn ideal candidate would also bring:\Hands-on experience with Google Ads, including familiarity with Google Ad Grants for nonprofits.Experience with search engine marketing (SEM) and/or paid social advertising (Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads).Experience with generative engine optimization (GEO) and an understanding of how AI-driven search affects content strategy.Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager and data tagging practices.Experience managing content in Drupal, WordPress, or other content management systems.Experience working in an agile team environment.Background working with nonprofit organizations, universities, foundations, or government agencies.Experience with UX design principles and human-centered design methodology.Expertise in web accessibility (WCAG compliance).Project management experience or familiarity with project management tools.Who We’re Looking For We are looking for a sharp, creative professional who is committed to supporting mission-driven organizations.
