Sunwater Capital is seeking a technically fluent, AI-forward Marketing and Communications Manager to drive the commercial success of its growing portfolio of companies. This role will span four distinct but interconnected areas:Legis1 - A legislative intelligence platform delivering news, data-driven insights, productivity tools, and networking features tailored for the US Congress and the broader government affairs communityAllCiv - A civic engagement and political data platform with citizen-facing media capabilities, slated to launch in Q3 2026AllSci - An AI-native platform designed for discovering, exploring, and publishing scientific knowledgeThe Sunwater Institute - A nonpartisan, nonprofit interdisciplinary think tank dedicated to conducting theoretical and applied research aimed at strengthening Congress's institutional knowledge, processes, and operational efficiencyThe Marketing and Communications Manager will develop and execute strategies to reach target audiences, manage social media, oversee the production of written, audio, and video content, and help drive partnerships and collaborations.We're looking for a technically sophisticated, entrepreneurial marketer who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, has deep hands-on expertise with AI-driven marketing systems and automation, and knows how to engineer scalable content and demand generation pipelines that deliver measurable results. If you've helped scale a SaaS or AI product, built automated marketing engines from the ground up, we want to hear from you.Key ResponsibilitiesAI-Driven & Technical MarketingArchitect and manage AI-powered marketing stacks, including LLM-based content tools, predictive analytics platforms, and automated campaign workflowsDesign, implement, and continuously optimize marketing automation systems for lead nurturing, segmentation, scoring, and lifecycle managementLeverage AI tools to scale content production, improve audience targeting, personalization, and campaign efficiencyBuild and maintain performance dashboards using marketing analytics and BI tools; translate data into actionable growth insightsManage and optimize SEO/SEM strategies with a technical understanding of on-page, off-page, and programmatic approachesEvaluate, integrate, and manage marketing technology platforms (CRM, CDP, MAP, analytics) to ensure a cohesive, scalable martech stackContent & Campaign MarketingDevelop and execute marketing plans aligned to revenue and growth objectives across all portfolio companiesOwn the full content lifecycle to include preparation, writing, editing, and distribution of emails, newsletters, articles, press releases, blogs, audio, video, and social media postsManage website(s), social media accounts, and other owned and paid distribution channelsGenerate qualitative and quantitative reports on distribution, attribution, and campaign impactBranding & PRCollaborate with the executive team on brand positioning, messaging architecture, and public relations strategyDevelop relationships and engage with relevant media, influencers, and industry analystsManage vendors, agencies, and portfolio team membersManage presence at relevant conferences and industry eventsRequired Experience & Qualifications5+ years of marketing experience, with a strong focus on technical marketing within a SaaS, AI, or data-driven tech company or startupDeep, hands-on expertise with AI marketing tools and the ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize new technologies as they emergeDemonstrated experience engineering marketing automation systems including CRM workflows, lead scoring models, nurture sequences, and multi-channel campaign orchestrationProven track record marketing data products, analytics platforms, AI-native tools, or subscription-based servicesStrong quantitative and analytical skills and comfortable with attribution modeling, funnel analysis, and making data-driven decisionsProficiency with Salesforce.com and a broad range of marketing and communications platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, Google Analytics, Segment)Familiarity with basic web technologies (HTML/CSS, CMS platforms, API integrations) sufficient to collaborate with engineering teams and manage technical implementationsExcellent English verbal and written communication skillsEstablished relationships with relevant media organizations a plusExperience on Capitol Hill, in public policy, or in healthcare a plusAvailable to work full time in person at the North Bethesda officeWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
